Upper Chichester Township Community Day

Today, Members took part in Community Day that is put on annually by the Upper Chichester Township Recreation Board. The day kicked off around Noon, with the Company attending a parade that went from the High School up to the Furey Road Fields. Throughout the day, 40-6A and 40-7 stood by as residents enjoyed the Carnival and Games. To finish out the night, Engine 40, 40-6A, and both ambulances stood by for the fireworks.

 
EMS Assist, Two Wrecks, and Viewing

The day started with the Company going to Willowbrook for a Cardiac Arrest. 40-6A and Engine 40 arrived as the patient was being loaded into the ambulance. The crews stood by before clearing.

Around 6:00 p.m. the Rescue Co. and EMS were dispatched to the 3100 block of Chichester Avenue for an Accident with Injuries. 40-6A & 40-7 hit the street at dispatch. Engine 40 followed shortly after. It was determined to be two injuries, so 68-7 was started. The crews split up and assisted the EMS with packaging both patients. The ambulances transported to Crozer, and the Company cleared.

Not long after the Company returned to quarters, a group of Members headed out to the Minshall-Shropshire funeral home in Middletown to pay last respects to Aston Beechwood Life Member Ron Jones. We would like to thank Ron for his hard work and dedication to the Community. Rest easy Ron.

Around 9 p.m. the Rescue Co. and EMS were dispatched to Market Street and Johnson Avenue for an Accident with Injuries. 40-6A, 40-7, and Engine 40 hit the simultaneously and arrived with a very minor accident. 40-7 transported to Crozer while 40-6A and Engine 40 cleared.


 
MVC's Involving Large Animals

Tonight, A group of members headed down to NCC Station 13(Claymont) to take part in an unusual type of training. The Emergency Service Corp. of New Castle County put on a this class to show emergency responders the proper techniques on how to remove large animals from transportation vehicles in case of an accident or other emergency. Several other departments attended the class from New Castle and Delco. We would like to thank Claymont Fire Company and Chief Mark Harris for the invite and pictures.


 
   
   
Engine 50 Now Appearing as Engine 40

We would like to thank Chief Tull and the members of the Middletown Fire Company for allowing us to use Engine 50 while our Engine is being finished up at Glick in Lancaster County. Engine 40 has been out for several weeks having a new steel water tank installed. The Engine should return to front line service during the middle of September. Condolences to the Aston-Beechwood FC on the Passing of Life Member Ron Jones

The Officers and Members of the Boothwyn Fire Company would like like to send our deepest sympathy to the Jones Family and Aston-Beechwood Fire Company on the passing of Life Member Ron Jones. Ron dedicated 24 years of his life to serve the community as a member of Station 72. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace Ron. Funeral arrangements will be posted on Aston Beechwoods Website as they become available.

 
Apparatus is Now Equipped with Reflective Chevrons

Over the Weekend, Member Wayne Heacock who also owns FDGrafix took time out of his busy schedule to install reflective chevrons on 40-7, 40-7A, and 40-6A. The apparatus looks great! Safety Day at Local Learning Center

Today a group of members traveled up to the Kindercare Learning Center to put on a demonstration as part of a Safety Day. The crew suited up in their gear and SCBA's and went over different things with the Children. We would like to thank the staff at Kindercare for the invite.

Working Kitchen Fire in 39's Local

At 5:45 p.m. the Lower Chi box was struck to Ervin Avenue in the Terrace for the reported House Fire. The Lower Chi PD was on scene reporting a working kitchen fire. Engine 39 & Tower 61(Reliance) arrived and went in service. Engine & Rescue 40 arrived with the Rescue laying 300 ft of 5 in into Engine 39 to establish a water supply. Interior crews made quick work of the fire and it was held to the area of origin. Boothwyn crews assisted with opening up. The fire was under control within the first 10 minutes. 39-9B(C.Durbano) had the Ervin Avenue Command. Also on the ticket was: Ladder 68(MHTFD), NCC Truck 13(Claymont), Engine 551(Ogden), RIT 45(Parkside), Medic 100-7, and Engine 42(Collingdale # 2) who was providing a fill in at 63's house. Overturned with Entrapment: I-95 NB at Market Street

Just after 1 p.m the Rescue Co. and EMS were dispatched to Interstate 95 NB in the area of Market Street for an MVC, Vehicle Overturned with Entrapment. The Rescue and Deputy hit the street in not time. EMS arrived on scene with one vehicle on its roof with one occupant still inside. 40-9A(Fuller, Jr.) arrived on scene and advised he had one confined in the vehicle. The Rescue and 40-6A arrived on scene within minutes and stabilized the vehicle to allow EMS to gain access to the occupant. The occupant was removed and packaged into 40-7A for transport to Crozer. The Company cleared the highway within a half hour.
